This face to face course on Advanced pain is conducted over 1 day and is equivalent to 7 continuing professional development (CPD) hours. This course is designed for all nurses working in acute and aged care

Key learning outcomes

  • Apply current knowledge of pain as a biopsychosocial experience to all aspects of the assessment, care and management of people with pain.
  • Evaluate, select and use valid and reliable pain assessment tools that are appropriate to the needs of the individual patient and the demands of the care situation, and take into account such variables as language, cognitive ability, age, culture, disability, and other factors.
  • Engage in regular evidence-based pain assessment and care planning that takes account of all aspects of the pain experience
  • Describe the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of non-opioids, opioids and adjuvant analgesics
  • Discuss the general principles of analgesic use including indications, contraindications, side effects and dose titrations

Providing mums, dads and grandparents too, a welcoming, relaxed and supportive environment to continue their professional development whilst bringing along the little ones. These workshops are an opportunity for pharmacists who are currently on maternity/paternity leave to come together and remain strongly connected to the pharmaceutical profession whilst being on a short break. Offering an informal space to meet new colleagues with children of simular ages and the provision of adult interaction with like-minded professionals, all whilst accruing CPD points from relevant topics.

Price:   Free to all members. $75 per session to non-members.

Seasons for growth - change, loss and grief program training

Event Detail:

Good Grief are running the 'Seasons for growth' Companion training for people working with Children and Young people. Seasons for Growth aims to strengthen the social and emotional well being of children and young people (aged 6-18) who are dealing with significant life changes. Companions are the people who lead Seasons for Growth groups. The role is not that of a teacher or therapist, but as a guide who leads and accompanies participants through the Seasons for Growth program. Companions may be school/agency staff, endorsed parent volunteers or other suitable adults who undertake a two day training workshop and subsequent accreditation with Good Grief to deliver our programs.

At the next Connect Me event we will provide an opportunity to connect with professionals from a diverse range of career pathways, and gain the confidence to take the next steps towards your future career. You will develop your business and clinical skills whilst learning a little more about the diverse range of opportunities available to you, either as you start your career or if you are in a space where you need something a little different.

Join us – as we introduce you to people who have chosen a different pathways which would otherwise not have been possible without their pharmacy training.
