Capital Health Network (as the ACT PHN) and ACT Health are seeking to appoint additional members to the ACT Clinical Council.

The ACT Clinical Council is a joint ACT Health and ACT advisory committee and provides a forum for multidisciplinary lead clinicians to share their collective knowledge and expertise and provide advice on strategic clinical and wider health system issues and local strategies to improve the operation of the ACT health care system for patients (the Terms of Reference for the Council can be found here).

The Council reflects the range of expertise across the breadth of the clinical community in the primary, public health, sub-acute and acute care service settings with a balance of representation across health sectors and health professions (a list of the current Council members can be found here).

The Council works with the ACT PHN and ACT Health to meet the objectives of:

  • Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of health services for consumers, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes
  • Improving the co-ordination of care to ensure consumers receive the right care at the right place at the right time.

Expressions of Interest are being sought from clinicians with skills/experience in the following fields (with one vacancy per field to be filled):

  • Mental Health
  • Dentistry
  • Public Health
  • Residential Aged Care
  • Geriatric Medicine 

Members will be appointed based on:

  • clinical skills and/or knowledge
  • capacity to make a contribution
  • clinical leadership and influence
  • whole-system orientation
  • health system research interests 
  • multidisciplinary coverage.

Members are to demonstrate genuine commitment to the role and functions of the Council by preparing for meetings (reading meeting papers and developing an understanding the issues) and to participate vigorously and respectfully in debate.

The Council meets at least three times per year with dates set to align with the PHN’s strategic, business planning and needs assessment cycles. Meetings are generally two hours in duration and are held in the evenings (6:00pm – 8:00pm) at our Deakin offices.
