The Unit Nurse's key responsibility is to provide first aid and primary healthcare. This includes ensuring that people are looking after their own health, and dealing with first aid incidents and general healthcare. Applicants with extra skills eg in occupational health, may be able to provide specialist care and advice in this area.
Unit Nurses may also be asked to comment or advise on health-related scenes in a film, in order to ensure that they are accurate, or to make them more realistic. Our film will be shot over five weeks, and will involve 10 hour days and occasional Saturdays. As the film is shot in bushland, we have assessed that there is a risk of bites from snakes and spiders. We also have a lot of stuntwork in the film. Any injuries arising from these will need immediate attention from the Unit Nurse. Please note, however, filming can often be monotonous and repetitive, with sometimes only a few minor ailments to treat each day.
You must be a qualified general nurse or paramedic.
