Do you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander? Do you work in the health industry? Would you like an opportunity to meet with other members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce?
Whether you’re a doctor, nurse, allied health professional, administrator, health worker, support worker, or in any way working in health or care, you’re invited to be part of the First Nations Health Workforce Collective.
During meetings, consultations and health needs assessments, we’ve heard the same messages from the workforce, the community, and the data:
- First Nations health professionals are constantly and consistently experiencing workplace burn out.
- First Nations health professionals experience isolation, lack of support, burdensome colonial load, and systemic racism in the workplace.
- First Nations community members experience serious barriers to accessing the health services and care that they need. This includes unaffordability, the difficulties of navigating the health industry, and systemic racism.
To help address some of these issues, we provide a space for the workforce to come together to share knowledge, experience, support and barriers. The members of this collective decides on the agenda, terms of reference, preferences for when/where to hold future meetings, and outcomes you want to see from these meetings. Membership is free and open to ANY First Nations persons working in ANY kind of health or care role, living/working in the ACT and surrounds. All meetings are free, catered, and anything discussed during these meetings are kept confidential.
If you are interested to join the collective and participate, please fill out the form below or send an email to FNHWC@chnact.org.au.
While these meetings are hosted by Capital Health Network, ACT’s PHN, and funded by ACT Health and Community Services Directorate, the functional rules, uses, and content of these meetings will be the property of the collaborative. Any information shared outside the meetings will only be done with consent from members.
