RACGP Standards and the QI Practice Incentive Payment (from 1 August 2019) require general practice to utilise a Clinical audit tool to extract and analyse data from their practice software.

Your practice needs to have a Clinical audit tool in place and in use. There are three levels of data: patient, practice and population. CHN provides free of charge to general practice the PEN CS Clinical audit tool. We are also currently trialling POLAR with a few practices. For PEN CS, Topbar deals with patient-level data, CAT4 deals with practice-level data and PATCAT deals with population-level data. PATCAT is the product which PHNs use to work with de-identified data they receive from practices.

This requires a commitment to developing and maintaining this capacity and competence within the practice team.
