Job Details
Position Description
CALMS is a not-for-profit organisation providing after-hours general practice services in Canberra. Our doctors deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, primarily addressing acute health concerns, with patients returning to their usual GP for follow-up where necessary.
Working as a locum with CALMS is similar to routine general practice; however, the clinical setting is typically more acute. Patients are often unfamiliar with the doctor, and management focuses on providing care to stabilise their condition for the next 24 hours until they can consult their regular GP.
Practice Description
Locum doctors at CALMS provide comprehensive after-hours care, including:
- Assessing and managing patients in a clinic setting with acute health concerns.
- Being on call during rostered shifts, which may involve attending Residential Aged Care Homes (RACH) and home visits if clinically appropriate.
- Work Monday to Friday evenings.
- Shifts during days and evenings on weekends and public holidays
This role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to support the community while maintaining flexibility in working hours.
