Capital Health Network has a number of current vacancies on its Clinical Council.
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from those interested in assisting the PHN to meet our objectives of:
- increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of health services for consumers, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes
- improving the co-ordination of care to ensure consumers receive the right care at the right place at the right time.
a) Clinical Council functions
The functions of the Clinical Council are to provide recommendations/advice to the CHN Board on:
- whole of health system issues (including but not limited to):
- major clinical strategic areas including clinical service planning and reform, models of care, innovation and service delivery
- strategies to improve medical and health care services through strategic, cost-effective investment and innovation
- strategies to improve patient care by improving the integration of services to patients across all settings of care, and in particular local pathways between the primary health care and sub-acute and acute care systems
- strategies to implement national and territory clinical guidelines and standards
- strategies to improve the safety, quality, effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of clinical services for patients
- strategies to improve the links between the ACT Health Directorate, Canberra Health Services, Calvary Health Services, CHN and teaching, training and research partners
- research opportunities across the ACT region
- strategies to facilitate and support clinical leadership
- strategies to ameliorate the growth in hospital demand within the ACT
- education and local dissemination of emerging best practice
- health needs of the ACT population and service gaps, particularly for those experiencing chronic and complex conditions and those that are at risk of poor health outcomes.
2. key issues of clinical concern.
The requirement for members is to demonstrate genuine commitment to the role and functions of the Council by preparing for meetings (reading meeting papers and developing an understanding of the issues) and to participate vigorously and respectfully in debate.
The Council meets at least three times per year with dates set to align with CHN’s strategic, business planning and needs assessment cycles. Meeting are generally two hours in duration and are held in the evenings (6:00pm – 8:00pm) at our Deakin offices.

Specifically, CHN is looking to fill the following open positions:
- one General Practitioner
- one Allied Health Professional
- one Community Pharmacist
- one Residential Aged Care Nurse
- one Geriatrician.
